Stop What You're Doing!

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING...
  1. Go outside. Get some fresh air, it will clear your mind.
  2. Take a walk or go for a run. Exercise your body. Healthy body = healthy mind.
  3. Try harder. For every task you approach today try harder than you normally would. Make a personal Challenge.
  4. Ask someone for help. Why make things harder than they need to be. There is always room for help.
  5. Do the thing(s) that you've been avoiding! Lift the weight of uncompleted tasks off of your shoulders. Things only seem harder the longer you wait.
  6. Interview someone more successful than you and take notes.
  7. Take five minutes to meditate or just breathe deeply right where you sit. Focus on nothing. Recharge.
  8. Make a list of your goals: weekly, monthly, yearly, whatever serves you best.
  9. Daydream. Visualize how it will feel when you achieve your goals. Even the smallest goals.
  10. Finish one task. Then another. That's progress.
  11. Help someone else.
  12. Read an article or book on improving your craft. Whatever you do, whatever level you're at, you can be better.
  13. Stop social networking and make a new friend. Meet someone new.
  14. Smile.
  15. For every negative thought that enters your mind, choose TWO positive thoughts to replace it.
  16. Laugh.
  17. Keep your head up. Show confidence through body language.
  18. Let go of "feelings." Focus on actions. It is only your actions that count for anything.
All it takes are a few changes everyday to improve the quality of your life and achieve the life your want. Take one of these tips, or all of them, and improve your life right now.

Daily Inspiration: Tuesday

The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.

Your actions and your thinking are two of the most important tools to greatness. Motivate yourself. Believe in the impossible and you will make history every time. But it's not just you, surround yourself with great (positive) people who challenge you to be and do better. Seize opportunities that are not there-create your own paths that lead to success. Make your own luck!
When you stay positive you are create an environment that is conducive to success. Success will not "grow" if you don't feed yourself positive energy. So enjoy your Tuesday  morning, make room for all the positive energy and abundance that is waiting to enter your life.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

Winston Churchill

Good Morning and Happy Monday! As you approach this week, consider that TRUE success (wealth, happiness, abundance) comes from taking action and knowing that success doesn't come from just attacking one hurdle. You have to "rinse and repeat." Every obstacle to overcome, every achievement you make, is one more piece of armor (skill) preparing you for the next battle (or horse  race)! For every goal you cross off your list, reward yourself, and accept the next challenge with tenacity.

The Meditation How To

Here is the meditation walk through I mentioned before. If you really want to master this awesome tool, you really need to make a commitment and practice. The benefits are better concentration, relaxation, better health, and an overall better (deeper) understanding of YOU. Enjoy...

  • Remember there is no wrong way or right way to meditate as long as you're getting the benefits. DO what feels peaceful and right to you. If you like music or an aromatic candle with your practice set those things up in your  quiet practice space. I recommend trying a few things to get your perfect practice.
  • Sit in a comfortable position, on the floor or in a chair. Whatever position your practice, keeping your back straight makes deep breath easier. If laying down works better for you make sure you're not so comfortable you fall asleep.
  • Start by closing your eyes.
  • Breathe in deeply, from your abdomen, feel your belly and rib cage fill with air as you inhale.
  • Release your breathe little by little, exhaling slowly.
  • Continue slow deep breaths. Concentrate on the cycle of breath filling your body and releasing. Be aware of the deep relaxation caused by renewing breath.
  • Be aware of the thoughts as they enter on your mind, acknowledge them (impassively) and let them pass with a breath. Refocus on your breathing.
  • If frustration comes (and it may), just be patient and let it pass. Overcoming the questioning, inner chatter, and distracting thoughts or surroundings is a major part of mastering your practice. Do not be discouraged. When doubt comes just breathe deeply and refocus your attention. Try to breathe in with a positive thought and then exhale with a positive thought. e.g. Breath in... peace...... breathe out.... focus.... breathe in peace.... breathe out focus. Use words or phrases that you want to bring into your life!
  • Your practice is over when you feel better, when your mind is quiet or calm. All it takes is five minutes to begin. Try to meditate in the same place and at the same time to begin with and add more time as you strengthen your practice.
Take Action! Give it a try today! The benefits are endless. If you missed the first post on pre-meditation tips, check it out here.

Goal Setting Sunday

Hello Success Seekers!
In order to set proper goals we sometimes have to pause and really take an inventory of ourselves. Here are some questions to consider before planning your goals and objectives for this week:

  • What actions can you take this week that will position yourself for success for years to come?
  • What actions are you putting off that if you performed would transform your life and improve your level of happiness? Why have you been putting them off?
I have made a commitment to have something to share with you (via this blog) throughout the week for as long as I have useful information to share. I have been putting it off for a while because I didn't believe I had the time. I have decided to make time and take advantage of the knowledge I have to bring helpful information to others. I believe this will bring me great happiness and purpose.

I hope you will ask yourself these questions as you get ready to start the week.

An Introduction to Successful Meditation

Meditation is a great way to prepare your mind for a busy day, or calm yourself after a stressful day. When you take big actions and utilize your mind to go after the things you want in life you may need a mental release. Meditation quiets your mind and brings your attention to a single point of focus. It is easy to learn and get started. The “practice” is the hard part.

If you haven't tried meditation before here are a few tips before you get started:

1. Meditation is a practice and you have to do just that. Practicing mediation is not something that you cannot just pick up here and there you must make a commitment to receive the full benefits. Even if it's five minutes per day once a week, make a small commitment that you can fulfill and then increase your practice as you see fit. I recommend twice per day but meditation is not the same for everyone you have to figure out what works best for you.

2. Settle on a time and place and relaxing position. You can begin your day with meditation, after a long day's work, in the middle of the day, or a combination of two or more times per day. Choose times that are best for you.
  •      Choose a place that is quiet (and tidy, a room that is messy will have distractions). When you're first starting out you may also want to close yourself off from the world so to speak as to not be disturbed. With a lot of practice you will be able to meditate anywhere no matter the noise or surroundings.
  •       Practice at a time when no one is home if you can.
  •       Practice outside if it's warm and quiet. Look up at the stars or clouds.
  •       Choose a position that is most comfortable for you, you don't have to look like a professional. Position yourself so that your back is straight. If you're laying down make sure you're not so comfortable that you fall asleep. Although you're being still meditation is an active practice.

3. Prepare your body and mind for meditation: I find that easing your body and mind into the practice works best for me. Some days you may find that these pre-meditation steps are all you need or have time for:
·      Take a relaxing shower or bath first. If you don't have time for that, try washing your face.
·      Release the tension in your body slowly. Lie on your back and flex and then release all of your muscles one-by-one starting at your toes and work your way up, while breathing deeply. Take your time!
·      Stretch or practice yoga. (Or any other exercise)
·      Light a single candle (this may prove helpful later). A scented candle may be a nice touch.

The point is to do something that relaxes you before you start your practice so that you're already in a calm state and not focused on your daily distractions.

4. Do not let frustration deter you from achieving a great practice. If frustration finds you, just breathe deeply and keep at it. It gets easier as you practice and the frustration will go away.

5. Enjoy the practice. Enjoy your breath. Enjoy the relaxation and benefits. Meditation may be challenging to master but it is not work. You should feel great after your practice.

Once you prepare yourself with these pre-meditation tips you'll be able to focus on the actual practice when you're ready to make a commitment. If you keep with it, you will find that the benefits are crucial to developing a strong mind, ready to take on even your hardest goals! Stay tuned for a more detailed walk-through an actual practice of meditation, this week. Thanks for reading!
